I fear your analysis is terrifyingly accurate, especially the parts of it relating to how incentivised boards and CEO will be to start cutting staff numbers to the bone at the earliest opportunity. Got any tips for an erstwhile print journo turned provider of content-marketing copy?

Great article. But I disagree on one thing:

"The AI era means questioning everything sitting between the inputs and outputs of a firm."

I believe we should question the input and output before questioning everything in between. For example: no, I don't want an AI to schedule my meetings. Yes, I know it is technically possible. But I don't want an algorithm that has access to my time. Time is the most precious thing I have in my life. I decide how I use it, not a machine.

Tech enthusiasts have a habit of optimizing everything without ever asking if it's wanted or needed.

Great point Jurgen, we don't necessarily want full efficiency or optimization in certain areas. Even though I've written a series on AI-driven optimization, I'll say so myself.
